Port

When used in the context of hardware, a port refers to an entry point through which a cable is plugged into a computer system, an example of which is a USB port. When used in the context of software or a service, a port is a well-documented number that a system can use when accessing another system which helps the target system to determine the service that the requester wants to access e.g. port 80 for HTTP service.
