Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a technology which is used to manage the creation, use and revokation of public keys. Through use of public and private keys, PKI helps to identify that entities are the true owners of the public keys they present, and other entities can use those public keys to communicate with them. Under the PKI infrastructure, an entity has two keys: a public key which it gives to those who want to communicate with it, and a private key which it uses to sign messages it is sending to others.
