Introduction to Text Manipulation using SED Command in Linux/Unix
Sed is an acronym for stream editor. It is used to perform various text transformations such as substitution, find and replace, deleting text, insert test, search through text. With SED, regular expressions can also be used to transform texts. All these transformations/manipulations can be done without having to open the file being transformed.
In this scenario, you are going to learn how to search and replace specific patterns in a file, print line numbers, insert line numbers to a file, search and delete specific pattern, create a backup of a file before making changes, delete specific lines, using SED command.
